Tilera Announces the TILEmpower Platform for High-Performance Networking and Multimedia Applications

TILEPro64-based 1U appliance delivers 10-20Gbps of L4-7 packet processing and can process multiple streams of High-Definition video

This platform is an ideal solution for OEMs looking to accelerate time-to-market for their software application, without having to design and qualify a sophisticated hardware platform. TILEmpower™ Platform

The TILEmpower appliance offers the immense compute of TILEPro64™ processor together with a rich set of high speed I/Os and flexible expansion options, all in a 1U customizable chassis. Together with its powerful multicore software development environment, the TILEmpower provides a complete solution to save development resources and shorten time to market.

Tilera's TILEmpower Platform Specifications

The TILEmpower appliance features the TILEPro64 processor with 64 full RISC cores running at 866MHz. The platform provides the following features:

  • 4 DIMM memory sockets supporting from 4 to 16 GBytes of DDR2 memory with ECC
  • Dual 1Gb Ethernet ports (SFP) for dataplane traffic
  • Dual 1Gb Ethernet ports (RJ45) for management
  • Dual SATA disk drive controllers (drives optional)
  • PCIe expansion slot (8-lane) enables additional interfaces or PCIe accelerator boards
  • Front panel CompactFlash slot supporting up to 32GByte cards
  • Watchdog operation and remote shutdown capabilities
  • Built-in auto ranging AC power supply and redundant cooling
  • RoHS compliant

In addition to the baseline interfaces, two high-speed interface configurations are available:

  • Dual 10Gb Ethernet ports with SFP+ connections
  • Twelve 1Gb Ethernet ports (SFP) plus one 10Gb port (SFP+)

Availability

The TILEmpower appliance will be sampling in the third quarter of 2009.
