Field Applications Engineer

Job Description

The role of the Field Application Engineering is to assist Tilera's customers to solve real-world problems with our products, assist the sales team with technical issues and customer evaluations, and post-sales support. Other duties will include working with many departments to improve Tilera products, documentation, marketing, and processes. The successful candidate will have a broad range of domain knowledge and be adept at problem solving.

Requirements

  • Good hardware and software knowledge of modern microprocessor-based system design.
  • Excellent working knowledge of various software components and their interactions - including firmware, hypervisors, operating systems, device drivers, applications, etc.
  • Good working knowledge of various modern software-related constructs including coherency, locking, interrupts, virtualization, threading, parallel-processing, etc.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Linux and VxWorks.
  • Good working knowledge of the software requirements for a vertical market such as network infrastructure, digital multimedia, storage infrastructure, telecommunications infrastructure, high-performance computing, and cloud computing.
  • Excellent working knowledge of embedded software development process including design, prototype, implementation, test, debug, performance analysis, source control, and release.
  • Understanding of physical design and bring-up of computer boards and systems.
  • Broad understanding of many and detailed understanding of a some I/O interfaces including, DDR2, Gbe and 10Gbe, PCIe, UARTs, I2C, HPI, and SPI
  • Detailed understanding of customer engagement process - including evaluation, selection, design win, prototyping and production.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and multitask on several projects simultaneously.
  • BS/MS EE plus five years experience, equivalent.

Location and Travel

  • This position could be located in either our Westborough MA or San Jose CA sites.
  • Some amount of travel will be required
